Smelt Rigs and the 2018 season

Hey all,

Lloyd here. I have had a few requests, and thought it was a time for an update. the #1 question is:

Why are there no Smelt rigs for sale on the site?

The short answer is… we don’t have much for inventory this year. The long answer is about to follow.

This year we

  • Moved back to Maine from Wisconsin
  • Lost my dad to cancer
  • Went to school full time
  • Bought our new home
  • Had to build a garage for operations

I’m usually not one for allowing “excuses” but Colleen and I simply weren’t able to get our fly order in on time to start making rigs. What WILL be happening:

  • I am getting ready to start tying some rigs / flies myself
  • The TV show is returning but under a new title
  • The site and store will get back on track
  • We WILL be on the ice again this year!
  • We plan on being back in full force the following year with smelt rigs and reports

So I am reserving a few days over the holiday break to tie my my head off and get at least SOME rigs up on the site for everyone. Watch the Facebook Page for announcements.

I hope to see you all on the ice and thank you for sticking with us while we get our new digs in order.

~Lloyd & Colleen

I’m a new tyer, I was wondering if you could give a recipe/pattern for your smelt jigs. We are going down on Saturday and would love to tie some up!

There isn’t a lot to them. I usually shoot for a size 8-10 hook (depending on type), red thread, gold bead head (If available) Glow-in-the-dark Flashabou. That’s about it.

how can I order from your company if there is no phone no. to call

    • admin says:

We have never taken orders over the phone. New rigs and products will be posted online as I tie them up.

We don’t have a reliable supplier for flies right now, so we I am tying myself.
